The first level of the day at 3k / 6k with a 500 ante is in the books, along with the first four in the money eliminations. No longer contending for the title are David Docherty (36th), Dave “DevilFish” Ulliott (35th), Oyvind Riisem (34th) and Mike Fosco (33rd). Jason “treysfull21″ Mercier was able to send Riisem to the sidelines in a coinflip hand that would have been all but the end for Mercier had he lost. All eliminations from 36th down to 27th earn £21,142 or roughly $33,500.
Christian “charder” Harder had a tough start, picking up pocket queens only to get the chips in against Keith Hawkins with aces. The cup half full view is that Harder had Hawkins covered and still had over 225k after losing the hand. Mercier was also in the mid 200ks after winning a coinflip with pocket eights against Riisem’s AT. An eight high flop was good news for Mercier who had about 250k stacked in front of him not long after busting Riisem.
With 32 players left the average stack is a little over 300k and the blinds will be going to 4k / 8k with a 1k ante. The 500 denomination chips have been removed from play and the antes become even more significant in the upcoming level, representing a full 25% of the small blind.
