New $1.5K Running; Day Threes Getting Underway by Rachel on 06.13.09, 4:14 pm

The cards are in the air in the latest $1.5K NLHE at the World Series. We spotted a few PocketFivers getting into the action early.

Darryll “DFish” Fish (pictured at left) made the only pre-flop re-raise we’ve seen so far. After the player in seat five raised to 150, Fish made it 275 more to call from the button. The other player made the call and the flop was A96. Both players checked and saw the turn. Seat five checked again and Fish made a bet of 550. The other player’s cards hit the muck and Fish raked in the pot.

Craig “craigthedeac” Boyd raised to 150 before the flop and got a call from the player with the button. The flop was J95. Boyd checked and his opponent bet 325. Boyd called and both players saw the 8 on the turn. Boyd checked again and the other player bet again, this time putting out 425. Boyd called. The river was the 5. Both players checked. Boyd mucked when the other player quickly turned over his K-J and took the pot.

Garrett “GBecks” Beckman
got a free look at a three-way flop of AJJ in the big blind. The small blind checked and Beckman bet 100. The other player in the pot call and the small blind folded. The turn was the 3. Beckman bet 300 this time and he was called again. The river was the 6. This time Beckman led out for 1K and his opponent laid his hand down.

We arrived at Kevin “BeL0WaB0Ve” Saul’s table expecting to find Ana “nyx86″ Marquez and Chad “lilholdem954″ Batista accompanying him there.  The two were nowhere to be found, but their chips appeared to be resting comfortably in Kevin’s stack.

He explained that he and Ana got it all-in on a K-Q-9 board with two hearts with Marquez holding A-K to Saul’s set of nines.  The nines held and she was eliminated.  Just a few hands later, Chad and Kevin got in a raising war preflop that resulted in all the chips going in the middle with Chad holding A-Q to Kevin’s pocket kings.  The kings held and Saul increased his chip count to 15K.  He said he bluffed off about 2K, but is still sitting well above average with 13K.

We didn’t catch either of them in a hand, but Jon “sketchy1″ Eaton and David “DocSands” Sands have gotten off to good starts, chipping up to 7K and 9.5K respectively from their 4.5K starting stacks.

Day three of Event No. 24, a $1.5K NLHE tourney, and Event No. 25, the $2.5K Omaha and Stud H/L tourney, is just getting underway. We’ll get you updates throughout the day as both bracelets will eventually be awarded.
